Biography
Teruma is a partner in the Projects, Energy, Environment and Resources group at global law firm Ashurst. A lawyer with more than two decades of experience across Tokyo and London, he advises on equity investments, project finance and export credit financings in the renewable energy, infrastructure and security sectors. His work spans the Japan–Australia corridor and extends throughout the APAC, EMEA and US regions.
Born and raised in Melbourne, Australia, Teruma attended university in England and qualified as an English law lawyer. He is also registered as a foreign registered lawyer (gaikokuho jimu bengoshi) in Japan. In addition, he serves as a judicial officer on the Disciplinary Panel of World Rugby. Teruma is actively engaged in the not-for-profit sector, working with organisations including UNESCO and the Emerging and Developing Economies Network, where he supports initiatives in education, sustainability and the development of emerging economies.
